ROBERT KARPAY

Robert Karpay was born in Baltimore, Maryland and is currently pursuing his Master's in Composition at the Manhattan School of Music where he studies with Richard Danielpour. Prior to that he studied with Jonathan Leshnoff. His music is an evolving synthesis of heavy noise rock, pop and art music music. It has been played at venues such as The Stone, Spectrum and The Manhattan Inn. Robert has had the pleasure of collaborating with fine ensembles such as Counter)Induction and members of the MIVOS string quartet. Robert Karpay's output includes works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo instruments, and electronics - both solo electronic and with live instruments.

Robert also has worked as a cello instructor for non-profit organizations such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's ORCHkids and the Harmony Program in New York.

Robert is also an active recording artist.

When he is not composing, teaching or recording, Robert performs as a solo cellist under his own name, and as a keyboardist and singer with his band Scherzo.
